Notice about the Coronavirus (COVID-19)
The LHON Conference takes place in conjunction with the UMDF's Symposium. On March 16, the UMDF sent the following announcement: "The health and safety of our UMDF family is of utmost concern to us and it is important for all of us to exercise caution during this time. We continue to monitor guidance offered by the WHO and CDC and are closely following recommendations related to COVID-19. As such, we continue to plan for the #MitoMed20 conference and are additionally actively exploring technology that will allow us to provide key information virtually."
The 2020 LHON Conference is a great way to connect with others in the LHON Community. Just like in years past, the 2020 Conference in Phoenix, Arizona will be a fun and informative way to learn more about living with this condition.
Thursday evening, June 25, there will be a mixer reception for all LHON and Mito Families.
Friday, June 26 will be filled with sessions about mitochondrial disease, research, clinical trials and LHON. Friday evening will also include a reception and banquet with all the Mitochondrial researchers and families, and LHON families.
Saturday, June 27 will be a full day of LHON sessions. For those who can stay for the evening, there will be an optional, casual LHON get-together/dinner (additional cost).
Besides all of the planned conference sessions, one of the best parts of attending is meeting and spending time with others in the LHON community. Socializing is an integral part of these conferences, and one that many attendees look forward to each year. There will be many opportunities for networking -- before, during and after the scheduled sessions.
The Early Bird price of $115 per person is available until May 31. It includes the Thursday Mixer Reception, Continental Breakfast, Lunch and Breaks, and Friday's Banquet.
If you can only join us for one day, there's an Early Bird price of $60 per person for all sessions and meals on the selected day. The Friday evening Banquet ($75 per person), however, is not included in the one day rate. Saturday will be more focused on LHON, so if you can only get to Phoenix for one day, attending on Saturday is your best choice.
There is a private Facebook group limited to people who have registered for the LHON Conference, so please register as soon as possible so you can begin networking with other attendees. Click this link to register:
Fundraising Ideas and Travel Scholarship Opportunity
If travel costs and registration fees prohibit you from attending the LHON Conference, consider fundraising to cover the costs and/or applying for a scholarship, which would cover all or part of your registration fee, and reimburse your travel costs, up to a limited amount.
